I have a beautiful brochure from the time when this exact generation of KA's was on the market. Ours did not have stepped spins for some reason, despite having the three-speed GoldSeal motor, but it still spun longer than the KM DD my Aunt Monica had at the same time. Most KitchenAid DD washers aside from one or two BOL models had stepped spins, and the full final spin time was a bit longer than that of standard WP/KM DDs. The first three digits of the model number specifies the manufacturer. ![]() It's completely possible that you're right about the difference in dryness of the clothes after spin. Sears does not manufacture any appliances. I'd give just about anything to find one in great condition. EXCELLENT machine, and in my opinion one of the best top-load agitator washers in existence to this day. I'm so jealous of you right now!!!! That's the exact same KitchenAid we had when I was growing up, from 1990 to about 2002. ![]()
